When Michelle and her family reached out to us – they were wanting to complete a full renovation of their 2 – bedroom apartment in Bilinga.

They intended to use this apartment as a rental for 3 months of the year but its primary purpose would be for themselves and extended family to holiday in. With the thought that in the future they move North and live in it permanently.

As they lived interstate and living a very busy lifestyle they were keen to have just one point of contact for the renovation project. This was perfect as we offer project management and coordinate all our trades involved in the project. Our clients loved this model of service as it was a turn key experience for them.

As it was going to be rented for a portion of the year they didn’t want to be to precious about the new renovation, they wanted it to be a functional interior design fit out not a disaster if things get damaged (please change wording).  At the time of the renovation they had 3 year old twins so wanted the space to be safe and functional.

Given it is a beach side apartment and down the track they may live in it – their brief included things like storage for bikes, boards, wet suits and fishing gear, in the garage. They wanted areas of storage that could be secure and areas that could be accessed by their guests to hire some of the item  – like bikes and fishing rods.

They required a dedicated work station that was easily accessible, ideally not in the living area and always set up and user friendly. We were able to meet this brief with an electric desk in the main bedroom that was always set up and functional.

They also wanted a dedicated kids area within the main living areas but to be contained and tidy – we were able to create this space beautifully without encroaching on the living area but still enable the children to be in the space and have their own area.

Another brief was for the second bedroom to sleep their twins but also be suitable should 2 couples wish to rent the apartment. This was achieved by purchasing bunk beds with a double bed on the bottom.

There was no air conditioning so this was installed as part of the project.

And the brief for selections and finishing was a splash of bright and cheerful colour. This can be seen in the splashback tiles selected by the owners and the decorative pieces in the apartment.
